I cannot think of any person other than Pauli Murray who more perfectly incarnates the spirit of Durham NC that we love. Having read "Jane Crow", "Proud Shoes", and "Pauli Murray: The Life of a Pioneering Feminist and Civil Rights Activist", it is really special to read about so much of Pauli's life in Pauli's own words. Pauli's story is one of great persistence and results, and is needed today more than ever as we daily see progress reversed and our nation dismantled and sold off to the highest bidder. We desperately need the Hope that Pauli practiced. What a wonderful life story! Hope IS a Song in a Weary Throat.
