Nothing Like It in the World: The Men Who Built the Transcontinental Railroad 1863-1869 by Stephen E. AmbroseMy rating: 2 of 5 stars
An account of the building of the transcontinental railroad in the mid 19th century. This somewhat scattered storytelling includes the drama, politics, grift, corruption and more that were part of this story. It also tips its hat to the exploited and mostly forgotten laborer’s who performed the work. It is interesting in the context of Trumps US to see that there was just as much corruption back in the 19th century! NOT a must read but interesting.
